Barry McNinch

Therapist

Barry McNinch is a therapist who works with teens, young adults, and family systems, including intentional parent work. He specializes in supporting individuals and families navigating developmental phase transitions across adolescence and adulthood, particularly during periods of increased vulnerability, identity formation, and relational strain. Barry has a focused expertise in working with eating disorders and attachment-based challenges, understanding these concerns within the broader context of family systems, trauma history, and relational patterns.

Barry’s work is rooted in a trauma-informed and relational framework. He integrates psychodynamic therapy, Attachment-Based Family Therapy, somatic experiencing, and EMDR to help clients explore the underlying emotional, relational, and somatic experiences that shape their behaviors and coping strategies. Through this integrative approach, Barry supports clients in building insight, emotional regulation, and a deeper sense of safety within themselves and their relationships.

Barry approaches each client and family holistically, recognizing that healing occurs not only at the individual level but within the systems in which a person lives. He collaborates closely with clients and caregivers to foster equitable, respectful attachments that support authenticity, autonomy, and connection. His work emphasizes strengthening relational safety, increasing flexibility within family systems, and supporting sustainable change that promotes optimal functioning, resilience, and long-term growth.
